Anderson Mandolin
This unusually shaped mandolin was made in 1899 by a San Francisco luthier named Carl C. Anderson. This is one of only four instruments made by Anderson known to exist today. One is another, very similar mandolin, one is a guitar with a very unusual cutaway, and the fourth is an even more unusual "hollow arm" guitar. Anderson and his business are known to have survived the 1906 earthquake because the other mandolin is dated 1907. This instrument is owned by Steve Baughman of San Francisco.
